R6 Marketplace Requirements

The Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace gave players an official way to buy and sell cosmetic items, weapon skins, uniforms, headgear, and charms, using R6 Credits instead of relying purely on Alpha Packs or the in-game shop. But before anyone can list an item or place a buy order, Ubisoft requires accounts to meet a specific set of eligibility conditions. Here’s a full breakdown of what’s needed to access and use the Marketplace.

1. Minimum Account Level

The first and most basic requirement is reaching Clearance Level 25 in Rainbow Six Siege. This typically takes somewhere between 15 and 25 hours of active play, depending on game mode and XP bonuses. The level requirement exists to keep the Marketplace limited to players who have genuinely engaged with the game, rather than brand-new or throwaway accounts created purely to flip items.

2. Recent XP Activity

It isn’t enough to have hit Level 25 once and then walked away. Ubisoft also requires that you’ve recently earned XP by playing any game mode — Ranked, Quick Match, or even the in-game Training Grounds. If your account has been inactive for a while, the system may flag you as ineligible until you log a fresh match. Players who run into a “you do not currently meet the requirements” message are usually fixed by simply playing one round to refresh their profile status.

3. Two-Step Verification (2FA)

Security is a major focus of the Marketplace, given that it involves transferring valuable cosmetic items and R6 Credits between accounts. Every user must have 2-Step Verification enabled on their Ubisoft account. Following a January 2026 Player Protection update, Ubisoft has also signaled that app-based authenticator 2FA may become the standard going forward, rather than SMS or email-based codes alone. Players are encouraged to set up app-based 2FA in advance through their Ubisoft account security settings, since it’s likely to be a stricter requirement once the platform fully relaunches.

4. Account Standing

Your Ubisoft account must be in good standing, meaning there are no active sanctions, bans, or chargeback flags attached to it. Any history of payment disputes, cheating penalties, or other enforcement actions can block Marketplace access entirely. This rule protects the integrity of the trading system and prevents bad actors from using the platform to launder items or exploit other players.

5. A Verified Recovery Email

Beyond 2FA, having a verified recovery email tied to your Ubisoft account adds another layer of protection. This ensures that if something goes wrong with a transaction or your account is compromised, there’s a reliable way to confirm identity and recover access.

Why These Requirements Exist

Taken together, these rules serve two main purposes: keeping the trading ecosystem secure and ensuring participants are genuine, active players rather than bots or scam accounts. Given that the Marketplace has already experienced one major security incident — taking it offline since late December 2025 — it’s likely that Ubisoft will tighten these requirements further when the platform returns, particularly around authentication standards.

Getting Ready for the Marketplace's Return

As of mid-2026, the Marketplace remains offline while Ubisoft works on security improvements, with a relaunch expected later in Year 11. In the meantime, players can use the downtime productively: level up past 25 if they haven’t already, switch to app-based 2FA, verify their recovery email, and make sure their account has no lingering sanctions. Taking care of these steps now means being ready to trade the moment the platform reopens, rather than scrambling to meet eligibility requirements after the fact.
